Landmannalaugar time starts disappearing as soon as you arrive
FÍ puts the Laugahraun lava-field loop at about 4.8 km and 1.5–2 hours; the Brennisteinsalda extension adds about 3.4 km. Bláhnúkur is a more demanding walk of around four hours. Those figures are walking time, before you have found the toilet, changed shoes, checked the meeting point or decided whether a soak is realistic.
Keeping the plan to Laugahraun is not settling for less. It is often the cleanest way to see the rhyolite, leave room for weather and still reach the return pickup without staring at your watch.
