Turn the airport pickup area into a workable space
The rental desks and pickup locations at Keflavík Airport are not necessarily by the same door. KEF to central Reykjavík is about a 45-minute drive; Vík adds several more hours. The real time also depends on handover queues, weather, parking and buying food. After a late arrival, a first night in Keflavík usually costs only one extra room night while avoiding a dark long drive, a tired second day and the risk of changing rooms at the last minute. With an early daytime arrival, a Blue Lagoon booking can provide a short break, but calculate leaving, changing and check-in time rather than relying on the straight-line distance on a map.
