Operators and products vary. Icelandair's published Reykjavík Summit helicopter tour, for example, combines a sightseeing flight with a 15-minute mountain landing for about 40–45 minutes in total, with up to six seats; transport to and from the base is separate, and Norðurflug operates it. This is a named product example, not a market-wide standard. Another local operator, HeliAir, lists options ranging from a 60-minute short trip to full-day tours. The comparison is clear: looking only at flight minutes hides check-in and transfer time.

If you place the helicopter on a Reykjavík city day, a cancellation can become time at the harbour, a museum or Blue Lagoon / Sky Lagoon. If photography is the reason you are booking, ask first whether you can actually shoot, rather than starting with the scenery. The emotional cost is real: once you have paid, “at least get to the base and see what happens” can feel tempting. The pilot's cancellation decision is not a judgement on your trip.
