Stokksnes is close to Höfn, not a guaranteed photo stop

Vestrahorn rises about 454 metres on the Stokksnes peninsula, roughly a 10-minute drive from Höfn. The beach, dunes, tide and mountain make one scene, so the entrance fee of 1,100 Icelandic krónur per person does not buy a reflection. After entry, follow the designated path and check the current fee, access method and site arrangements before leaving.

That short drive matters most when Höfn is already your base. If you are turning back from Jökulsárlón, Skaftafell or Vík, the real cost includes the return road, the walk from the parking area, wind-blown sand, time spent waiting and the check-in at your next stop. Without a car, treat Stokksnes as a pre-arranged excursion and confirm the return ride; do not build the day around finding an improvised connection. A map's ten minutes cannot account for those pieces.

Give each activity its own time budget

Stokksnes pays off when the scene holds together at a particular time. Jökulsárlón brings boat schedules, ice on the lagoon, Diamond Beach and parking into the plan. Skaftafell is more likely to hinge on trail length, glacier activities and an early check-in. They share a coast, but not a time budget. If you combine them, decide in advance which stop is allowed to stay short; otherwise place the room near the fixed activity rather than letting the most famous photograph choose every night.

For example, if you're heading east from Vík and already plan to choose one fixed activity between Jökulsárlón and Skaftafell, Stokksnes is best viewed as another cancellable morning window. If your next night is definitely in Höfn, Höfn accommodation and eastbound resupply judgment is more useful than just looking at "close to the site"; if you're continuing to the Eastfjords tomorrow, you should put the Eastfjords onward driving time back on the map first.
