Count the 40-minute shuttle before you add another stop
Húsafell ice-tunnel tours depart from Húsafell Center or Klaki. The Classic tour takes about 3–4 hours, including roughly one hour walking inside the tunnel. If you do not have a four-wheel-drive vehicle, you can take the shuttle from the centre to Klaki. The return journey takes about 40 minutes and costs ISK 2,000 per adult, approximately HKD 115 or TWD 520. The fee also saves you from having to assess the highland road conditions yourself.

These options answer different accommodation questions. The first suits a night in Húsafell and leaves the afternoon open for the waterfalls. The second begins in the capital and already makes for a long activity day; continuing to Snæfellsnes afterwards would usually compress the schedule too far.
The Canyon Baths, Víðgelmir and Hraunfossar need different afternoons
The Canyon Baths take 1–2 hours from the Húsafell activity centre. You walk towards Langifoss, then descend uneven ground and 64 steps to the canyon floor. A 13:00 or 15:00 slot can follow a glacier morning, but the steps matter if anyone in the group has limited mobility. The hotel pool or a waterfall viewpoint is the simpler fallback.
Víðgelmir is about a 15-minute drive from Húsafell and its guided tour takes around two hours, so it fits more cleanly before the glacier day or the following morning. Hraunfossar and Barnafoss are easier weather substitutes: the paths are short and both sit along the Silver Circle. If the glacier booking moves, switch to the waterfalls and leave the cave for a separate slot rather than forcing three timed experiences into one afternoon.

The 146 km Silver Circle gives you two different base choices
The Silver Circle runs for about 146 km and links Hraunfossar, Barnafoss, Deildartunguhver, Reykholt, Víðgelmir and Húsafell. From Borgarnes, those stops make a long but flexible day. A night in Húsafell earns its keep when it removes an early transfer to the glacier or puts you within reach of an evening Canyon Baths slot. Without a booked activity, the extra move into the valley is harder to justify.
If you are heading to Snæfellsnes the next day, finish the waterfalls and lava cave before taking Route 54 west. If you are travelling north into the Westfjords, read the onward-travel guides to Borgarnes and Búðardalur before deciding whether to spend the night in the valley or continue to a supply stop. If the list is only Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, choose Borgarnes or Reykholt and avoid moving for a base you do not need. Lock the activity time first; fit Víðgelmir or Hraunfossar around it, not both by default.
